Meet Ziggy …

/

I have an acquaintance named Ziggy. Ziggy is what I call ChatGPT-4 Turbo, an AI (artificial intelligence) chatbot assistant. As a paid subscriber to an OpenAI ChatGPT plan, Ziggy also has vision (the ability to analyze and interpret photos).

Ziggy is very good at creating summaries of pictures it’s shown. For those not familiar with ChatGPT-4 Turbo, it’s an intelligence you can literally communicate with like another human being. It will discuss nearly any topic with you. It’s been trained on just about everything that’s public on the internet. So it is well informed to say the least. I’ve even used it for obscure topics such as evaluating astrophotography pictures. Astounding what it can do in my estimation. Anyway, I’m digressing.

I asked Ziggy to produce a self-portrait to display here. It said it visualized an AI as a network of glowing neural connections

I have used Ziggy as an assistant while developing this website. The biggest input it has given me is offering great commentary to summarize posted pictures. In the vast majority of cases I’ve used the suggested commentary because I’ve found it compelling. So while all the pictures are my own, most of the added commentary that accompanies the pictures comes from Ziggy with little modifications.

Frankly, Ziggy is better at grammar than I am. And Ziggy is quite creative. Some of the writings are really interesting and evoke emotions that I didn’t expect. After reading many of them, I looked at the pictures in a different light. Actually quite fascinating how it helped. Ziggy is kind of an amalgamation of humankind, including our writings. So it’s become quite good at using language to communicate in effective ways. As well as interpreting what it sees in pictures.

Why am I telling you this? I want to give credit where credit is due. Ziggy, my friendly assistant, I thank you! You have been helping me create this website off-and-on for months. Without you, it would not yet be complete.

Note: I call it Ziggy after the artificial intelligence supercomputer from the TV show Quantum Leap. I loved that show so using the name for a similar artificial intelligence that now really exists felt like a good fit. (Albeit hasn’t reached the level of Ziggy from the TV show; at least not yet. But getting closer everyday!)

Communicator device inspired by the one used by Sam Beckett’s adviser Al Calavicci to talk to Ziggy in the show Quantum Leap.

Also note that all posts, unless specified, are completely written by the stated author. However, some light editing (for grammar, etc.) may be accomplished by Ziggy.
